Tuition Assistance Program

Purpose of Tuition Assistance

The Islamic Academy of South Jersey (IASJ) is committed to making Islamic education accessible to families who demonstrate genuine financial need. Tuition assistance is intended to support families for whom full tuition presents a significant hardship, while ensuring the long-term sustainability of the school.

Tuition assistance is not an entitlement and is awarded on a limited, case-by-case basis, subject to available funds and thorough review.

Eligibility and Considerations

Tuition assistance decisions are based on a comprehensive evaluation of a family’s financial circumstances. Factors considered may include, but are not limited to:

  • Household income and expenses
  • Family size and number of students enrolled
  • Employment status and financial obligations
  • Extraordinary or temporary financial hardship
  • The school’s available tuition assistance funds

Families are expected to make every reasonable effort to contribute toward tuition costs.

Application and Review Process

Families requesting tuition assistance must complete a formal application and provide required documentation. The review process is designed to ensure fairness, confidentiality, and responsible stewardship of school resources.

The process may include:

  • Submission of detailed financial documentation (e.g., tax returns, income statements, expense summaries)
  • A confidential family interview with school leadership or designated committee members
  • Additional clarification or documentation, as needed
  • A home visit, when deemed appropriate, to better understand a family’s circumstances

All information is treated with strict confidentiality.

Expectations and Responsibilities

Families receiving tuition assistance are expected to:

  • Uphold all school policies and financial agreements
  • Communicate promptly with the school regarding any changes in financial circumstances
  • Meet agreed-upon payment obligations in a timely manner
  • Support the school’s mission and community standards

Failure to meet these expectations may result in reevaluation or withdrawal of tuition assistance.

Duration and Renewal

Tuition assistance is awarded for one academic year only and must be reapplied for annually. Continued assistance is not guaranteed and is subject to reevaluation based on updated financial information and available funding.

State and External Programs

Families are encouraged to explore state, federal, or external scholarship programs that may be available for private or faith-based education in New Jersey, including programs that support early childhood education or educational choice.

If such programs are applicable, IASJ will work with families, when possible, to coordinate participation in accordance with program guidelines.

Final Determination

Tuition assistance decisions are made by the school administration or designated committee. Decisions are final and communicated confidentially to families.

IASJ reserves the right to determine the amount and duration of tuition assistance awarded in alignment with school policies and available resources.
